Sūrat al-Falaq (Arabic: سورة الفلق‎ ) (Dawn, Daybreak) is the 113th sura of the Qur'an. It is a brief five verse invocation, asking Allah for protection from the evil of Satan. Together with Surat al-Nas it is also known as Al-Mu'awwidhatayn.

Introduction

This early Meccan sura provides the antidote to superstition and fear by teaching us to seek refuge in Allah from every kind of ill arising from outer nature and from dark and evil plottings.
 More details at Sura Al-Nas.

Say, “I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak [1] from the evil of everything He has created, [2] and from the evil of the dark night when it penetrates, [3] and from the evil of the women who blow on the knots, [4] and from the evil of an envier when he envies. “[5]

English Translation by Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall:

Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of Daybreak [1] From the evil of that which He created; [2] From the evil of the darkness when it is intense, [3] And from the evil of malignant witchcraft, [4] And from the evil of the envier when he envieth. [5]

English Translation by Yusuf Ali:

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn [1] From the mischief of created things; [2] From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads; [3] From the mischief of those who practise secret arts; [4] And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy. [5]
